River. This is the French River from the snowmobile bridge. I reached the area at the right time of day to take this picture.
Sailing at Sunset. On the way back from Toronto Island in the summer of 2014, I missed the ferry. When I caught the next one about an hour later I realized missing the one I did was serendipity. I would have missed this shot and the near perfect orange sun setting behind the city.
Sunrise on the Pier. An early morning trip to the Toronto Island in the summer of 2014 gave me this early shot. I stitched together several exposures for the panorama.
Three Flags. In the city of Hamilton there is the Dieppe memorial. At the memorial they fly the flags of Canada, Great Britain and the United States. I took this picture on a breezy day and then used some filters to give it a vignette.
The Street Corner. Summer of 2013 I and a couple of friends took out cameras to Toronto for a bit of street photography. This shot just called out to be rendered into an old photo look.
Little bridge in the fall: I saw this small bridge on Toronto island on a beautiful fall day.
Monarch: Maybe the monarch butterfly has been photographed more than any other, but it's still beautiful.
Sunset Silhouette. As with “River,” this was taken at French River. I caught the sun setting at the right time for this silhouette.
After baseball season: When autumn arrives; the leaves change colour and fall fro the trees, the temperature starts to drop, and baseball season ends leaving an empty backstop in front of the trees.
Champion: The construction site in Hamilton which became Tim Horton's Field. What called out to me about this shot is that the Hamilton Tiger-Cats had a receiver named Tony Champion in the '80s.
Gooderham & Worts: On a trip to Toronto's distillery district I came across this old building. It definitely screamed black and white.
Waves. Another from Toronto Island from the fall of 2014. This was from a couple of exposures that I stiched together on a lonely beach.
Take the wheel: The distillery district yielded another nice shot. This vehicle was parked outside of Balzac coffee.
Angel. This angel is in a local cemetery. The weathered look made me want to give it an old picture treatment.
Sunset: The sunbeams needed to be brought out so I used some filters to increase the contrast giving it a somewhat surreal look.
Matt Loves Kathy. On the drive between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie there are a couple of old dilapidated houses. This on I found a bit more photogenic and put it through some filters to make it look older.
Calm. A calm lake in Sault Ste. Marie.
Graffiti Bridge. Under a bridge there was some graffiti. I made the picture greyscale except the two musicians.
Evening Trees. Driving back from Sault Ste. Marie I looked out the passenger window and saw a wonderful sunset. I simply had to stop the car and take some pictures. Very little had to be done processing wise, only removing a few power cables.
I use a Nikon d40x shooting in raw format and edit in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I’ve mostly taught myself through reading and practice how to use the camera.
As far as subjects are concerned, it’s outdoors that I really enjoy taking pictures.
